WINTER SELECTIONSAs a family-owned bistro and wine bar we feel a strong affinity towards small farmers and wineries cut from the same cloth. Our identity is the celebration of high-quality local and seasonal products reflected on our current AUTUMN menus. As Autumn comes to an end we turn our menu focus to heavier warming selections anticipating the coming colder and rainy weather. Although the abundance of local products diminishes our local growers are still producing some great seasonal crops like beans, kale, Brussels sprouts, carrots, squashes, beets, potatoes and turnips. Seasonal fruits still abound like apples, figs, persimmons and grapes. Our preparations turn to more roasting and braising and our sauces become more robust like port and cider reductions, natural jus from braising and brown butter sauces. Winter is also the change of seasons, and vintage's, for the wine industry. The grape harvest is finished and while the vines lay dormant awaiting Springs warming weather the vintners are doing their magic (mostly skill) turning the recent harvest into this years wine vintage to come to us in a year or so. As a family-owned bistro and wine bar, we find that wine’s strongest attribute is bringing friends together. At the Village, we are great supporters of the half-bottle format! We feel that offering a strong list of half-bottles offers our guests more flexibility for pairing, tasting, and just trying something new. You can find a lengthy selection of both red and white ‘HALF BOTTLES’ (pg 6-9) year-round!. If you feel a bit intimidated by the enormity of the list, don’t feel bad, we often times feel the same way which is why we have hand selected some phenomenal wines and showcased them for you in our ‘SOMMELIER'S PICKS (pg 4-5). These are some of the wines that we are excited about as we move into the fall season! Lastly, we have taken inspiration from the new season and its flavors to craft some ‘SEASONAL & FEATURED WINE FLIGHT'S(a tasting format of three wines served side by side) that we hope you will enjoy with us (pg 2-3).
